Simple majority needed to move bill to the House.
On Sunday, the Senate voted to conclude its debate of the much-anticipated $1 trillion infrastructure bill. The bill passed the 60-vote threshold with a vote of 68-to-29, and will only need a simple majority vote later this week to be sent to the House of Representatives before being sent to President Biden for his final approval.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has publically stated that she will not support moving forward with the infrastructure bill unless the Senate votes on an additional $3.5 trillion spending package, which likely will not be completed for a couple of months. However, growing pressure from the president and moderate members of Congress suggests that the infrastructure bill might move forward without being joined with the larger spending bill.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That members of the Senate would have wisdom on how to vote for this bill.
- For members of the House to have discernment on how and when to vote on the infrastructure bill.
- For President Biden as he works with Congress to move legislation forward.
